How To Feed a Puppy - How To Choose the Best Puppy Food
The 4 Best Foods For Your Pet, According To Veterinarians
A girl's gotta eat, but she needn't spent hours over a hot stove. Enter our 2019 Super Market Heroes, where we've found the healthiest (and tastiest!) boxed, bagged, and canned goods around—all ready in 10 minutes or less. We worked with our team of nutritionists (Karen Ansel, R.D.N., Maureen Callahan, R.D., and Rachel Meltzer Warren, R.D.N.) to vet all of the winners to ensure that each one is fast and convenient, delicious, and genuinely good for you. And because they're organized by grocery aisle, you'll be in and out of the store in a superhero flash. Next up: Pet food.
Dogs and cats—they're just like us, gluten allergies and pumpkin obsessions included. But sussing out pet food nutrition can be complicated, so make like a veterinarian. They read labels, just as we do for human food, says Joe Bartges, Ph.D., D.V.M., a professor of medicine and nutrition in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in Athens. Pet food should contain what's called a "nutritional adequacy statement" from the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), he says, which ensures that the food is complete and balanced for your animal.
